6 - Mining Scenes

Life in this town was once shaped by coal. The images here not only reflect the hard-lived lives of a community above and below ground but celebrate the industrial past with humanity and warmth.

Directions to Market - Spennymoor People:

Walk down through the park between the two bowling greens. After approximately 100 metres, turn right to exit the park into Dundas Street.

Continue straight ahead, without turning left or right, until you are back onto the High Street. At this point, you now turn left and head back towards the town centre, opposite the Town Hall. The trail boards are sited in the main seating area known as the ‘Marketplace’.
