The exhibition of a selection of Portraits by Norman Cornish was opened on Friday evening by County Councillor Joy Allen , Portfolio Holder for Transformation, Culture and Tourism and the Vice Chairman of DCC , County Councillor Ossie Johnson also attended along with guests and curators from the other exhibitions participating in the Norman Cornish Centenary Year.

Eight of the twenty five Cornish self portraits are exhibited together for the first time as well as other commissioned portraits and those of local characters and family members.

Throughout the centenary year, an interesting range of themed exhibitions is planned in order to commemorate Norman’s life and to celebrate his work.
