The Mining Art Gallery Set To Open Next Summer!

More than 300 pictures depicting North East mining, including works from Norman Cornish, Tom McGuinness and Ted Holloway, are to be displayed from next August at The Mining Art Gallery, Bishop Auckland.

The Old Bank Chambers building in the town will house the works, which have been collected over twenty years by Bob McManners and Gillian Wales.

The plans for the gallery have peaked national media interest, with both the Financial Times (subscription only) and the BBC covering the story.

Cornish Centenary

Throughout the centenary year, an interesting range of themed exhibitions is planned in order to commemorate Norman’s life and to celebrate his work.
