Work on the former home of Norman Cornish is making great progress in the 1950s terrace.

Windows, staircases, doors and shop fronts are all going in.

There’s still a lot to do but when complete the terrace will include a 1950s fish and chips shop, John’s café, hairdressers and the Bishops Close Street house of Norman, Sarah, Ann and John.

Thanks to the money raised by National Lottery players, the Remaking Beamish project has been awarded £10.9m by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Further updates in the coming months.
